Rest Revival Retreat 2025: A Sanctuary of Sound, Stillness and Restoration

This past retreat with Octavia Raheem’s Rest Revival was one of those profound, quiet transformations. I had the privilege of offering a harp sound bath during the retreat and then leading the final closing session with a mix of hymns and meaningful songs to encourage rest, restoration and release for the 32 incredible women gathered.

What is Rest Revival?

Octavia Raheem curates Rest Revival: Retreat, a container rooted in her ethos that rest is sacred. (octaviaraheem.com) This is more than a typical wellness event. It is a sacred gathering for visionary leaders, especially women of color, to pause, heal and reintegrate. Through restorative practices, sound healing, meditation, time in nature and community, attendees are invited to reimagine rest not as a luxury but as essential fuel for their lives and leadership.

The Rest Revival retreat is deeply connected to Octavia’s broader work of Devoted to Rest®, which dismantles productivity culture, resists overwork, and creates new paradigms of leadership grounded in ease and sustainable rest.

My Role: Harp Sound Bath for Restoration

Throughout the retreat, I held space with a sound bath using harp tones, gentle overtones and ambient vibrations to guide participants into surrender, presence and calm alongside sound healer Shana Nunnally.

I witnessed shoulders drop, breath soften and tears of release flow. In the stillness between tones, transformation began to unfold.

The mix included:

  • Hymns that anchor us in memory, lineage and surrender

  • Uplifting songs that affirm light, strength and restoration

  • Quiet moments of breath and silence so the music could truly settle in

The closing circle reminded us that rest is not passive. It is powerful. Each woman left affirmed in her worth and her sacred capacity for renewal.

Why This Space Matters

In a culture that glorifies hustle and constant productivity, Rest Revival offers another way. It reminds us that we are allowed to soften, to be held and to regenerate.

For women in leadership, especially women of color, the pressure to overperform is constant. Retreats like Rest Revival plant a seed of resistance: rest is reclamation. Rest is where we return to ourselves and discover the clarity, creativity and strength needed to move forward.
